The Prodrome Window: What It Is and How to Use It

Most migraine sufferers think the migraine starts when the pain starts. It doesn’t. The migraine starts 20 to 40 minutes earlier, during a phase neurologists call the prodrome.

THE PRODROME WINDOW: WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

You already know the prodrome. You just may not have had a name for it. It’s the collection of signals your body sends before the pain arrives:

  • A tingling or tightness behind one eye or at your temples
  • A visual shimmer, flicker, or spot at the edge of your vision
  • A rising feeling of dread or anxiety that seems to come from nowhere
  • Neck stiffness, especially at the base of the skull
  • A “something is off” feeling you can’t quite name
  • Sudden yawning or fatigue
  • Difficulty finding words or concentrating

These aren’t random. They’re the trigeminal nerve beginning to fire. The cascade has started, but it hasn’t consolidated into full pain yet.

THE WINDOW: You have approximately 20 to 40 minutes from the first prodrome symptom to catch the cascade before it locks in.

WHY THE WINDOW MATTERS FOR FLORUS

Every oral medication misses this window. A pill takes 30-45 minutes to dissolve, absorb, circulate, and reach the nerve. By then, the window has closed. The migraine is established.

Florus reaches the nerve in seconds. Applied at the first prodrome symptom, the compounds arrive while the nerve is still in early firing, before the pain, the nausea, and the photophobia consolidate.

YOUR PRODROME PROTOCOL:

  1. RECOGNIZE IT: Learn your personal prodrome signals. Most people have 2–3 consistent ones. The more you notice them, the earlier you can act.
  2. ACT IMMEDIATELY: Don’t wait to see if it develops. At the first signal, apply Florus to all 5 zones: both temples, behind both ears, base of skull. 15 seconds.
  3. REAPPLY AT 15 MINUTES: If the prodrome symptoms persist, apply again. The second application catches any residual nerve firing.
  4. LOG THE RESULT: Over 2-3 weeks of catching prodromes, you’ll start to see how many full migraines you’re preventing. Many customers report going from 8–10 migraines/month to 2-3 once they master the prodrome window.

The Migraine doesn’t start with pain. It starts with a whisper. Listen for the whisper.
